In November 2015, Carleton DECA successfully hosted its first annual invitational conference

At Carleton DECA, we embrace the millennial way of doing business that is taking the world by storm.

The conference, themed around differentiating yourself amongst a sea of other university graduates, explored topics such as passionately questioning the status quo, exhibiting openness to new ideas, having the courage to admit it when you don't know the answer, learning from your peers, learning from failure, helping others realize their full potential, and pursuing your own dreams relentlessly and unapologetically.

Attendance by School

25% of all delegates in attendance were from external schools, creating a viable networking opportunity for the business leaders of tomorrow to connect and exchange ideas

Shoshin - Beginner's Mind

Unlock your true potential with the Zen mindset! Learn all about "beginner's mind" and how you can leverage it towards a BOLD career. Companies such as Google encourage their employees to utilize Shoshin in the workplace

Shoshin (beginner's mind) refers to having an attitude of openness, eagerness, and lack of preconceptions when studying a subject, even when studying at an advanced level, just as a beginner in that subject would.

Fun Fact: A weekend retreat to learn this concept can cost upwards of $30,000 USD

Dress For You

At Carleton DECA, we believe that it is up to you to make the dress code. Don't like wearing a tie? Don't sweat it! Prefer flats instead of heels? Go for it! When you dress how you feel most comfortable, you perform at your best.

Let our style guru show you that there's more to corporate workwear than black suits and pencil skirts. Truly expressing yourself and owning your personal style is a big part of the BOLD mindset!
